He was at the top of his form – swinging and swaying us all into the Christmas groove in his trademark black suit and tie. It was a great show. Jimmy Fallon was the host and brought all his old cronies along for the ride. If you’re an avid SNL fan this was one of the best episodes ever! Here’s a link if you want to check it out: SNL with Michael Bublé and Jimmy Fallon.
Anyways, continuing our recent fetish with music reviews, we were struck again by Bublé’s incredible sound and smooth style. Like Tony Bennett (the subject of our last music review), Michael Bublé packs a powerful punch when it comes to the old standards and is exceptional at belting out the hits both new and old. He is a true crooner extraordinaire. So let’s get to know him a bit…

He was born in the City of Burnaby, British Columbia and has two younger sisters. Michael has said that he dreamed of becoming a famous singer since the age of two and that his interest in jazz music began around age five when his family played Bing Crosby’s White Christmas. He’s also always had a huge love of hockey saying that if he had been a better player he probably wouldn’t have become a singer!

Michael started singing at nightclubs at the age of 16 with the help of his grandfather who traded plumbing work for stage time & bought him singing lessons. Bublé entered a local talent contest at 18 and won but was disqualified because he was underage. In 2000 he got a big break when he was asked to sing at a wedding where he was introduced to David Foster (a huge music producer/executive) who later agreed to produce Michael’s debut album.

He has won several awards, including three Grammy Awards and multiple Juno Awards. That first album, 2003’s Michael Buble, reached the top ten in Canada and the UK. He then quickly found a worldwide audience with his 2005 album It’s Time, followed by the 2007 album Call Me Irresponsible, which reached number one on the Canadian Albums Chart, the U.S. Billboard 200 albums chart, the Australian ARIA Albums Chart and several European charts!
Currently the Michael Bublé Christmas album is number one on the charts (and has been for weeks). Talk about starting the New Year off with a bang! And with a catalog of albums filled with all the best standards he’ll always be in style. So check him out when you get the chance. You won’t be disappointed!
BTW…Here’s one of our favorite songs. It’s a cute video and a great tune about falling in love.
